Grand Strand Business Association, Myrtle Beach, SC

How does the Grand Strand Business Association work?

The Grand Strand Business Association works in three strategic ways:

  1. The GSBA lobbies legislators to vote for legislation that we, as a collective organization of Grand Strand businesses, believe is beneficial to our businesses and our region.
  2. The GSBA oversees a GS Statewide PAC, which is a separate, segregated fund. The GS Statewide PAC contributes monetary donations to candidates competing for seats in the South Carolina General Assembly who are pro-business and have demonstrated support for the Grand Strand.
  3. The GSBA intends to create a GS Federal PAC, which will also be a separate, segregated fund. The GS Federal PAC will contribute to South Carolina candidates competing for national offices who are pro-business and responses to Grand Strand needs.

What is a political action committee (PAC) and why are they important?

PACs are legal organizations that may act as an indirect means for corporations, businesses, trade organizations, labor unions, and individuals, to make donations to candidates. History has proven the success of PACs in the legislative process and it is imperative that we, as businesses and representatives of commercial interests along the Grand Strand, let our voices be heard. There is strength in unity and through the GS Statewide PAC, the Grand Strand’s business community can speak with one clear voice.

What’s the source of funding?

The Grand Strand Business Association operates solely on contributions by area businesses and associations to promote common economic interests of commercial enterprises in the Grand Strand area and ensure pro-business leadership for our area. Your contribution to the GS Statewide PAC will be used only to support pro-business candidates in accordance with state and federal laws. The GSBA nor its PAC accepts public dollars.

Why Should I Contribute and Why Should I Participate?

It has been proven time and again that special interest groups, using effective political activity, accomplish their goals and objectives. Often, their accomplishments are at the expense of business. The Grand Strand Business Association (GSBA) aims to ensure our business community has a stronger and more substantial voice, resulting in pro-business legislation.

By becoming a member of the GSBA, you are effectively protecting your business and your livelihood. You have a say in political decisions that affect your business, so let your voice be heard.
